The proposal before the regional council is a real step forward for riders, but it leaves the lowest-income routes exposed to the next budget shortfall.
We support the plan’s commitment to fifteen-minute frequency on core routes and the new fare-capping system. We urge the council to add two amendments before the final vote:
- Protect service levels on the twelve routes with the highest share of riders who have no car.
- Require a public equity review before any future service cut takes effect.
Our members will testify at the public hearing on 3 September. Anyone who relies on transit is welcome to join us; we will help you prepare two minutes of testimony.
